Australian Nitrogen Fixation Conference 2024
The Integrative Legume Research Group and Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation (QAAFI) at the University of Queensland are excited to announce we are hosting the 19th Australian Nitrogen Fixation Conference in Brisbane, Queensland.
ANFC 2024 represents an excellent opportunity for scientists and industry to connect and present research in microbiological, legume, and systems-based aspects of nitrogen fixation.
The conference is being held at the beautiful and historical Queensland Parliament building in Brisbane, Queensland. It will run Friday 4 October to mid-day Saturday 5 October, with an overlapping session on Thursday 3 October with the 11th International Conference on Legume Genetics and Genomics (ICLGG).
The ANFC organising committee invite you to submit an abstract for consideration for inclusion in the 2024 Australian Nitrogen Fixation Conference program. Please review the information below and submit via the email address: anfc2024@uq.edu.au using the template, see link below.
We are able to consider late-breaking abstracts as we assemble the conference program.
Notification of the outcome of acceptances will be sent in early September 2024.
When submitting your Abstract, please indicate whether you are a student or Early Career Researcher (within 5 years of graduating) and your preferred presentation type (oral only, oral or poster, poster only)

Please ensure you have reviewed the instructions below and prepare your abstract accordingly prior to submission.

Presentation types
You are invited to submit an abstract/s as one of the following presentation types:
- Oral Presentation
- Poster (one single A0 size page printed in portrait format, poster must not exceed 841mm wide x 1189mm high)
Formatting guildlines
Abstracts are to be submitted via the email address: anfc2024@uq.edu.au using the template, see link above.
Please ensure you follow the below formatting guidelines:
- Abstract should be no more than 250 words. Title, authors and affiliations are not included in the word count.
- No figures or tables.
- Text should be entered in sentence case (do not type in CAPITAL LETTERS).
- Abstracts should be thoroughly checked for spelling and grammar.
Abstract submission
Only abstracts submitted via email will be considered for the 2024 program. We are able to consider late-breaking abstracts as we assemble the conference program.
The presenting author of accepted abstracts must register and pay the applicable registration fee by Friday 30 August 2024. If registration isn’t completed by this date, the organising committee reserve the right to remove the presentation from the program.
Abstract review process
In evaluating each abstract, reviewers will be aware of authors or institutions involved with the work described in the abstract.
The reviewers will assign accepted abstracts either to oral or poster presentation.
Notification of acceptances/regrets
Notification of the outcome of the review and acceptances will be sent to the contact person (this should be the presenting author) in early September 2024.
Only the contact person will be notified of acceptance or non- acceptance.
Presentation details
For all accepted abstracts, further details regarding the oral presentation (PowerPoint presentation) and poster presentation (poster size, format, style and layout etc) will be communicated to the contact person as appropriate.
The duration of each oral presentation will be determined by the committee.
Registration
Presenting author must be registered for the conference to present. The deadline for registration is Friday 30 August 2024.
